If you’ve been following along on Instagram these past few weeks, you know that my family and I have adopted a new morning routine. Not only is Milly Kate and I enjoying more “Mommy and Me” days but Ryder is attending his new co-op for the school year. Things definitely look different, however we’ve been treasuring our mornings together by listening to a new podcast during breakfast each day.
After the kids have been dressed, we sit down at the kitchen table and listen as Lucky the Leprechaun goes on a journey to restore magic back to the eight charm lands after realizing it is disappearing. The kids especially love swaying along to the music while they eat their bowl of Lucky Charms. I love interactive activities that get the kids thinking and using their imagination, so I was especially excited to try out this new podcast!
The podcast is super simple for me to pull up while pouring cereal since you can use your hands free Alexa device. Most of the episodes were 2-3 minutes long which is great to keep the kids attentive and listening. Most importantly, it keeps them away from the TV! Making sure we sit down as a family for meals is so important to me. I’m grateful this podcast teaches them something new and we’re able to restore some magic in our own family by listening together and taking time out of our morning to have conversations.
Milly Kate loved the “Land of Unicorns” episode where Lucky and Ursula the Unicorn help bring vibrant colors back to the land after it starts to fade. Ryder liked Tina the Turtle and all the other silly voices that were sped up or slowed down in the “Land of Horseshoes” episode.
Each episode has a lesson! Some lessons led to larger discussions like thinking happier thoughts to make you feel lighter, while some mornings we just had fun while the podcast encouraged the kids to sing, clap, and stomp. I loved the “Land of Clovers” episode because Norman the Gnome taught Lucky that good things come to those who are thoughtful. The episode gave the kids ideas on good deeds they could do. Since I am a huge believer in doing good for others, I loved that we were able to have a long conversation about the power of kindness well after the three minutes were up. This is one lesson that my kids will definitely apply in their real life.
While the podcast is interactive and such a treat, the most magical part of it all is spending each morning together as a family before Ryder takes off for school. I love watching the kids get along and helping Lucky solve each mystery.
I hope you will join my family on this magical journey! You’ll find yourself singing along “Hearts, stars and horseshoes…” each morning, believe me. If you would like to listen and play along, The Lucky Charms Magical Mission podcast is available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as well as an interactive voice experience available on Alexa & Google Home.
