After working on Milly Kate’s big girl room for close to a year, we are finally finished! Earlier this week, we added in a rattan trunk at the foot of her bed and just like that her room officially feels complete. Not only does it add texture to the space but it’s been the best decision we’ve made for storage purposes too! Of course, I love how pretty it is but the functionality is what I love most! It couldn’t be more simple to hide her baby dolls, stuffed animals, and any other toys that may be laying around her room. She even loves to pick up before bedtime now, which is a win win!
Ever since MK was a baby, I have dreamt about her big girl room. I knew I wanted it to be something that she could grow into but also a look she would love for a long time! The Buffalo check print is such a classic look that completely transformed her bedroom. I actually love this print so much that it’s somehow made its appearance in each bedroom of our home! While her headboard, bed skirt and pillows are all custom made, I’ve linked similar items below so you, too, can achieve this look for the little girl in your life!
The beadboard wall paneling and her fireplace is original to our 1903 home, but I do get lots of questions about the paint colors we used. For those of you who have asked, her room is painted SW Intimate White and the trim is SW alabaster. (Pssst did you know I’ve written a whole blog post about all the different paint colors throughout our home? Check it out here!) Now, let’s get into the details!
To shop any of these items from MK’s room, simply click on the item below:

We couldn’t be happier with how her room turned out! It’s such a functional, personalized space for her to dream, play, and grow up way too fast! If you’re looking for that special item to complete a room’s look, consider adding in a rattan trunk. You can also click here to shop more baskets I have been loving for our home! Transitioning a nursery or toddler’s room into a “big girl” or “big boy” room can be an emotional process, but we adore the results! What do ya’ll think? Let me know in the comments below!
