We just got back from the most incredible trip to El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and I couldn’t wait to share all the details! This destination truly lived up to the hype. From breathtaking ocean views to family-friendly activities, it was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.

El Conquistador Resort
Driving up to the resort feels magical. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, El Conquistador greets you with sweeping views that honestly look like something out of a postcard. The property is massive and has everything you could possibly need on-site — it truly feels like its own little world.
Rooms & Views
We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms with ocean views, and it was absolutely beautiful. The space was modern, comfortable, and had a balcony where we could watch the sunrise over the water each morning. Waking up to that view was a dream!

Pools & Water Fun
The resort has multiple pools, but the highlight for us was definitely the Coqui Water Park. Eric and I loved the lazy river and water slides. Our kids would have loved this part of the resort! It’s such a great feature for families, and everything felt safe, clean, and so well-maintained. Spending the day at the water park was the perfect way to relax without ever leaving the resort.
If you have time, don’t skip the spa at El Conquistador! After a few busy days of exploring, it’s the perfect place to unwind. Between the calming ocean breeze and the serene atmosphere, it’s a little slice of paradise for your body and mind.

Palomino Island
One of the most unique parts of staying at El Conquistador is access to Palomino Island, a private island just a short ferry ride away. It was hands down our favorite part of the trip! The beach was pristine, the water was crystal-clear, and there were tons of activities like snorkeling, kayaking, and even horseback riding if you’re feeling adventurous. We spent hours soaking up the sun, searching for seashells, and just enjoying the slower pace of island life.

Snorkeling with Salt Tours
We booked a dinghy boat excursion through the resort with Salt Tours for a snorkeling adventure. Let’s just say — it was an experience! We laughed our way through it, and while it made for some unforgettable memories, we agreed that next time we’d probably choose a larger boat for a smoother ride. Still, it was such a fun way to explore Puerto Rico’s underwater beauty!
Explore Old San Juan
We left the resort for one day to explore Old San Juan, and it was so worth it. Between the colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, and charming local shops, it’s the perfect spot for sightseeing and souvenir shopping. We loved wandering through the historic streets and soaking up the culture — it’s such a vibrant, picturesque area.

The resort has a variety of dining options and restaurants! Every morning I enjoyed going to Oats Juice Bar for their Golden Tumeric latte, it was divine! For dinner we enjoyed Chops Steakhouse and brick oven pizza from Cafe Bella Vista, our favorite lunch was at the restaurant on Palomino Island.

Our time in Fajardo was everything we hoped for and more — beautiful scenery, great coffee, and just the right mix of fun and relaxation. Whether you’re planning a family getaway or a couples trip, El Conquistador Resort is the kind of place that leaves you already dreaming about your next visit. Puerto Rico, we’ll definitely be back… next time with the kids!
