Welcoming a new baby into the family is always such a special time! For us, the arrival of our little girl in March 2023 marked a truly special chapter and the end of an era. She is our final addition to the family, so we’ve been soaking up all the “lasts.” Now that Hattie Mae is 17 months and fully settled into her nursery, I’m thrilled to finally share this space with y’all.
Creating this nursery in our 1903 farmhouse was a labor of love. It was a project that allowed us to blend the charm of our home’s history with modern touches. This room, filled with warmth, character, and personalized details, is everything I envisioned for our daughter—a space where she can dream, grow, and feel the comfort of home.
When we set out to design this room, I wanted it to be a peaceful , while also complementing the traditional charm of our farmhouse. The soft, neutral color palette we chose brings a sense of calm to the space, with the SW Alabaster bead board and the SW linen trim paint paying homage to the home’s original features. We wanted every detail to be both functional and beautiful, ensuring the room would grow with her as she moves from infancy to toddlerhood.
Nursery Pieces
The crib, with its soft pink gingham bedding, is the centerpiece of the room. The bedding and drapery are all custom from Wheaton Whaley Home. One of my favorite pieces in the nursery is the crib. It was once Ryder’s, then MK’s and has now been passed down to Hattie Mae. I also love the woven baskets since they serve as both storage and decor. They keep her toys and essentials organized while maintaining the room’s aesthetic. The light fixture was a favorite purchase from ProSource! Its gentle glow is perfect for bedtime stories and puts off a beautiful detail onto the ceiling.
As Hattie Mae continues to grow, we know this room will evolve with her. However, the foundation we’ve created will remain. We hope she finds as much joy in this space as we did in creating it! This nursery has served many different purposes, but for the next few years it will be a place where memories will be made for years to come.
