Eric and I embarked on our first solo kid trip with Ryder recently to Las Vegas! We’ve always loved family trips.. or I should say “I’ve” always loved family trips, Eric would rather stay home! But, there was something truly special focusing all our attention on just him. We were able to create so many precious memories with Ryder. And, he had the time of his life! We loved every minute of it. Milly Kate’s trip will be next, but in the meantime I’m highlighting everything we did, where we stayed and what we ate below!
If you’re planning a trip to Vegas with kids, or even just looking for some family-friendly spots in Sin City, here’s a recap of what we did and loved!
Our home away from home for the weekend was The Palazzo. It’s the perfect mix of luxury and comfort, making it ideal for families. We loved the spacious suite. Plus, its central location made it easy to get to all our planned activities.
FlyOver Las Vegas
This was an absolute hit with Ryder! FlyOver is a simulated flight ride that lets you soar over incredible landscapes. Ryder was in awe the entire time, and to be honest, so was I! It’s a must-do for any family visiting Vegas. We loved it so much that we returned later that day to do it again!
Museum of Illusions
If you’re looking for something interactive and fun, the Museum of Illusions is the place to go. Ryder had a blast exploring all the optical illusions and tricking his eyes. It’s educational and entertaining—a win-win! Not to mention, I don’t remember the last time we laughed that hard together!
Canal Shoppes at The Venetian
We took a leisurely stroll through the Canal Shoppes, which is always a unique experience. Ryder loved watching the gondolas glide through the indoor canals, and we enjoyed a bit of shopping along the way, too.
Mon Ami Gabi
For a little taste of Paris in Vegas, we dined at Mon Ami Gabi. The food was delicious, and the outdoor seating offered a great view of the Bellagio fountains. There was something for everyone from salads to burgers, kids meals and shrimp cocktail—definitely a family-friendly spot!
Donutique
This place is a dream come true for anyone with a sweet tooth. We stopped at Donutique and let Ryder pick out his favorite donuts. The whimsical decor and delicious treats made it a highlight of our trip! You wouldn’t believe some of the flavors that they offered!
Black Tap
When it comes to burgers and over-the-top shakes, Black Tap is the place to be. Ryder’s eyes lit up when our shake arrived—covered in candy and a whole piece of cake! It’s a fun dining experience that’s perfect for families. Just get ready for the sugar rush that comes with it!
This trip was special not just because of the destination, but because it was a rare opportunity to spend quality time with just Ryder before he started his next school year! We got to focus on him entirely, and he loved the one-on-one attention. It was a reminder that while family trips are wonderful, every now and then, it’s nice to give each child their own special experience.
